Abstract
Patient safety is a critical component of healthcare, and engaging patients in this process is pivotal for fostering a culture of shared responsibility. This presentation will cover the definition of patient engagement and highlight its importance in the context of patient safety. Additionally, this presentation will explore the various levels of engagement.
Furthermore, the presentation will address strategies for fostering patient engagement and participation in their healthcare, along with common barriers and challenges associated with engaging patients in their healthcare journey.
In the concluding segments, the presentation will shed light on examples of initiatives in patient engagement within the Saudi healthcare system. By acknowledging patients as partners in their care, we aim to enhance communication, promote informed decision-making, and empower individuals to actively participate in their own safety.
Biogragphy
Patient Empowerment Specialist with a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work and 4 years of experience, I have expertise in empowering patients within the Saudi healthcare system. I have achieved this through collaborative projects with health organizations and other organizations, with a specific focus on active patient involvement dedicated to advancing patient-centered care. Additionally, I participate in conducting research related to patient engagement in patient safety.
