Abstract
Infection control refers to the policy and procedures implemented to control and minimize the dissemination of infections in hospitals and other healthcare settings with the main purpose of reducing infection rates. Infection control as a formal entity was established in the early 1950s in the United States. In1996 CDC published standard precaution. Body substance isolation (BSI) considers all body substance potentially infectious (feces, nasal secretions, sputum, sweat. tears, urine, and vomitus). In 2007 Guidelines for isolation precaution; preventing transmission of infectious agents in healthcare settings was published. Body substance isolation a generally accomplished through the barrier technique using personal protective equipment’s (gloves, masks, and gowns) to prevent personal contact with blood or other potentially infectious material. The standard precautions as following, HH, PPE, aseptic technique, cleaning and disinfection, isolation policies, sterilization, waste management. In addition to respiratory hygiene, cough etiquette, safe injection practices and use of mask during insertion of catheter and injection via lumber puncture procedure.
We will try in this presentation to describe the current situation and suggest the solutions to improve the situation.
