This abstract emphasizes the pivotal role of leadership in enhancing patient safety within the healthcare sector. Leaders are expected to model safety-centric behaviors, promote open communication, and empower staff to report concerns and errors. Essential best practices include the adoption of evidence-based safety protocols, investments in staff training, and the utilization of data-driven approaches for decision-making. The presentation will illustrate various leadership approaches in global healthcare settings, demonstrating their impact on reducing medical errors and improving patient outcomes. It concludes by asserting that leadership in patient safety is a collective responsibility spanning all levels of healthcare organizations, ultimately crucial for creating a safe and patient-centered care environment.

Biography

Dr. Khaled Al-Surimi is a professor of healthcare management with extensive experience in public health policy and management. He holds a Ph.D. in Public Health from the Liverpool School of Tropical Medicine, University of Liverpool, UK. Prof. Al-Surimi has had numerous positions over 20 years of academic experience, including his current role as a Professor of Healthcare Management at the University of Doha for Science and Technology, Qatar. Prof. Al-Surimi’s career is marked by significant contributions to public health and healthcare management, both through his teaching and extensive research, with more than 100 peer-reviewed publications and a good number of citations.
