Abstract
?patient safety in dentistry: what’s different Patient safety is a topic that is multidimensional and extensive. Although it is primarily determined by the clinician’s awareness and actions, a host of other factors like organizational culture, clinic infrastructure; competence of auxiliary personnel, among many other factors, play a crucial role too.Things have changed in recent years, but the doctors’ dedication to their patients should have not. In relation to dentistry we know that many people have additional health concerns to think about when visiting the dentist, and as such the dentists should have made several changes to the way they run their dental office to become more safe.Just as no treatment plan can be completely devoid of risks, but some steps can be taken to minimize them. so patient safety should be an important part of every dental practice. Risk minimization is also a significant indicator of the quality of treatment provided. What’s Different About Dentistry? Patient safety issues in dentistry share some features with general care in medicine, in that there are opportunities for diagnostic errors, patient factors play a significant role in safety events, and providers often have a longstanding relationship with their patients. However, there are differences between safety issues in dentistry and medicine. For instance, the range of medication errors may be narrower in dentistry, as fewer medications are used and prescribed. The nature of what is done in the clinic is also different. For that through this lecture, we seek to emphasize the importance commetted the dental professionals to providing safe dental care, which is necessary for ensuring good general health, and to minimize risks in the dental clinics with establish an open culture of patient safety, in which practitioners can learn from their own and others’ experience, with added some safety-promoting suggestions for clinicians and staff in dental office.
