Aim of the study:<\/strong> The evaluation of theater knowledge, and everyday practices regarding radiation safety.
Methods: <\/strong>A questionnaire-based cross-sectional study targeted a spectrum of health workers in Hadramout governorate ( two governmental hospitals and five private hospitals) who are exposed to ionizing radiation from fluoroscope in their work. It included 120 (12 females and 108 males ), one-third from public hospitals, and two-thirds from private hospitals: Surgeons (26), anesthetists (7), scrub nurses(51) anesthetic assistants(27), and others (9).
Results:<\/strong> Only 22.5 % of the participants always wear the lead apron, 24.2 % wear it mostly, 13.3 % rarely and 14.2% never use it. Most of the health workers who participated in our study had never received any formal training on radiation protection. The level of knowledge about radiation hazards and protection is weak.
Conclusion:<\/strong> The study depicted the lack of adequate and appropriate knowledge among Hadhramout theatre health workers regarding radiation safety. Our findings suggest that healthcare personnel\u2019s knowledge about radiation hazards and protection requires further improvement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
